Domain registration pricing & terms

Sherman Web Design (Ken Sherman, Lakeland, Florida) registers domain names for Studio customers as a reseller of Name.com, Inc., an ICANN-accredited registrar. Name.com is the sponsoring registrar of every domain registered through us. Sherman Web Design is not an ICANN-accredited registrar. The person or organization named as registrant is the domain's legal owner.
Prices
Prices are for one year, in Studio credits, with the US-dollar amount (1,000 credits = $1.00).

- Prices are updated daily and can change when our registrar's prices change. The price shown in the Studio when you buy or renew is the price you pay, and you confirm it before anything is charged.
- Several first-year prices are Name.com promotional prices. From the second year, the renewal price applies.
- Late renewal costs the normal renewal price, with no extra fee, during the 25-day renewal window after expiry. You renew in the Studio, the same way as before expiry.
- After the 25-day renewal window, renewal isn't available through Sherman Web Design, and neither is redemption (restoring an expired domain), for any extension.
- Domains are registered for one year at a time. Premium domain names (priced individually by the registry) aren't offered.
- Transfers in from other registrars: the transfer price is charged when you start the transfer (for most extensions it adds 1 year to the expiry) and refunded to your credits if the transfer fails, is rejected or is canceled.
How billing works
The Studio uses prepaid credits: 1,000 credits = $1.00, bought by card on the Studio's Billing page. A registration, renewal or transfer in is taken from the credits of the site's billing owner, and only when the balance covers the full price. Each charge appears in your credit history. Using the domain for your site is billed separately as a custom domain: 400 credits per month while it is connected (www.yourdomain and yourdomain count as one).
Domain registrations, renewals and completed transfers are non-refundable. If Name.com doesn't complete a registration or renewal, the credits are returned automatically. If a transfer in fails, is rejected or is canceled before it completes, its price is returned to your credits automatically.
Renewal and expiration
- Auto-renew is on for domains bought in the Studio. About 30 days before a domain expires, the Studio renews it for one year from the billing owner's credits if the balance covers the renewal price. The site owner can turn auto-renew off at any time (site → Domains, or ask the assistant). With auto-renew off, the domain expires at the end of its term unless you renew it.
- Reminders: when a domain hasn't been renewed, we email the billing owner 30, 14, 7 and 1 days before it expires, and again when it expires.
- After expiry, the website and email using the domain can stop working. For 25 days after expiry (the renewal window) you can still renew in the Studio at the normal renewal price.
- After the 25-day renewal window, renewal isn't available through Sherman Web Design. Redemption (restoring an expired domain) isn't available through Sherman Web Design either. The domain goes through the registry's deletion process and is then released, and anyone can register it. Renew before the window ends to keep your domain.
Agreements that apply
When you register, renew or transfer in a domain through Sherman Web Design, you agree to Name.com's terms, which we pass through to you:
- Name.com Domain Name Registration Agreement. If anything on this page or in our Terms of Service conflicts with it, the Registration Agreement controls.
- Name.com Whois Privacy Service Agreement. It applies because we turn on WHOIS privacy, free of charge, for every domain we register. Under that agreement, the privacy service can reveal your details or cancel the service in the cases it lists.
- Related Name.com policies: Dispute Resolution Policy, Additional Registry Requirements for each extension, and Acceptable Use Policy. All of Name.com's policies are at name.com/policies/legal.
- ICANN: Registrant Benefits and Responsibilities and Registrant Educational Information.
The Studio asks you to agree to these terms before every purchase or transfer, and it records the date and the version of the terms you accepted.
Accurate registrant (WHOIS) information
You must give current, complete and accurate registrant details (name, organization if any, postal address, email address and phone number). If any of them change, update them within 7 days (site → Domains → Edit registrant). After a registration, and after some changes, Name.com emails the registrant a verification link that must be clicked within 15 days, or the domain stops working. Giving false information, not updating it, or not answering Name.com's questions about its accuracy within 15 days can lead to the domain being suspended or cancelled.
Transfers
Transferring a domain to us
The billing owner can move a domain from another registrar to Name.com through the Studio (site → Domains, or ask the assistant). Before you start:
- Unlock the domain at your current registrar.
- Get the domain's authorization (EPP) code from your current registrar.
- Make sure the domain was registered, or last transferred, more than 60 days ago. ICANN rules block transfers within 60 days.
- Make sure the registrant email at your current registrar works: some registrars email a transfer approval request to it.
A transfer usually takes 5 to 7 days. You can follow it, or cancel it before it completes, in the Studio. When it completes, the domain is listed with your other domains, WHOIS privacy and auto-renew are turned on, and we email the billing owner. If your DNS stays with another provider, the Studio shows the records to add so the domain points to your site. Domains already at Name.com can't be transferred this way.
Transferring a domain away
You can get your domain's transfer code at any time in the Studio (site → Domains → Get transfer code) and move the domain to another registrar. ICANN rules block transfers for 60 days after a registration or a transfer.
Records we keep
For each domain, we keep your agreement to these terms (with its date and version), the registrant details, the domain's registration, renewal and transfer history, the emails we send you about it, and the dates and amounts of every charge and refund. We keep these records for the registration term plus seven years, as our reseller agreement with Name.com requires, and we give them to Name.com if it asks. Because of this, we can't delete them earlier, even if you close your account. Transfer codes are removed from our copies of those emails after 30 days. See our Privacy Policy.
